Paul Warren works with a team of talented designers, builders and craftspeople to achieve the
inspirational work for which clients return again and again.
He studied art and design at art school, and then spent several years working as a landscape designer
with a large London nursery before starting his interior design practice in the late Eighties.
Paul does not impose his designs on clients, but says, inevitably, that his best working relationships
are with people who are willing to trust his judgement.
He describes his style as pared-down
("I'm not one for cushions, billowing curtains or too many decorative accessories") contemporary and open
to innovation. "I like natural materials, but I'm also very open to using new materials and finishes in
my work, where appropriate. I think it's important to be open to change and to accept that styles evolve.
For example, Austrian blinds were the rage in the 80s, but today they look incongruous."
Paul says he is particularly passionate about lighting and tries to educate his clients about its
importance in interior design. "Bad lighting ruins homes. You need to layer your lighting and be able to
dim it. Single bulbs hanging from the ceiling supplemented by a cheap lamp in a corner of a room are the
stuff of the Dark Ages."
